Incumbent works under the direction of the Chief Administrative Officer to the Douglas County Board of Commissioners acting as the Health Center Board of Trustees, overseeing the operations of the Douglas County Health Center (DCHC), a Medicare and Medicaid certified facility that includes Long-term Care and Short-term Skilled Rehabilitation services. 232 Longterm beds and 22 Short Term Rehab beds.
Oversee the use of DCHC resources to ensure patients and residents receive quality and cost effective care.
Comply with Civil Service policies and regulations, collective bargaining agreements, County policies, and laws to create a cooperative, safe, respectful and quality work environment.
Supervise assigned staff, providing training, monitoring workload and providing assistance.
Perform management and administrative responsibilities (e.g., performance appraisals, disciplinary actions and recommendations, etc.) for assigned employees.
Collaborate with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement strategic plans for the facility.
Market Long-term Care and Short-term Skilled Rehabilitation services to the surrounding area, highlighting the advantages and accreditation of the facility.
Ensure facility complies with applicable federal, state and local regulations, statutes and standards.
Monitor fiscal administration of the facility including budget development and forecasting pursuant to Board policies.
Ensure proper controls are in place (e.g., internal audit, cost control) to account for departmental spending.
Enforce procedures to identify and respond to resident issues (e.g., accidents, abuse or neglect allegations, etc.)
Complete investigations on suspected abuse, neglect, or misappropriation of money or property and take action to prevent re occurrence.
Maintain a current knowledge of changes and trends in health care, especially in areas of Long-term care and Short-term rehab.
Administer the physical operation and maintenance plan to ensure it provides an environment conducive to the delivery of quality resident care.
Enhance the image of DCHC through proper relationships with the news media, other agencies and the public.
Bachelor's Degree* from an accredited college or university in Hospital Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field of study required.
Master's degree preferred.
Five (5) years of senior management experience in a Long-term Care facility required.
Four (4) years of supervisory experience required.
Short-term rehabilitation service management experience preferred.
Must possess a current Nursing Home Administrator's license and obtain a State of Nebraska license within 6 months and maintain throughout the course of employment.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license at the time of hire and throughout the course of employment.
