The Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Heart Institute in Hollywood, FL, is recruiting a BE/BC pediatric cardiologist who has completed advanced fellowship training in pediatric heart transplant/ heart failure and mechanical circulatory support to join an established team of specialists; candidates anticipating fellowship completion in June 2019 are encouraged to apply.
The qualified physician will join two transplant/heart failure/MCS physicians and three nurse practitioners to provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care to pediatric patients with cardiomyopathy, pre/post-transplant management, heart failure and MCS. Care is provided to a diverse population including young adult patients with CHD. The pediatric program interfaces with the established Adult CHD and Adult Heart Transplant programs for patients with congenital heart disease requiring transplant evaluation and management. Knowledge/interest in failed SV palliation/Fontan patients and interest in participating in a growing multidisciplinary survivorship services is a plus.
Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital (JDCH) boasts excellent support for clinical research and there is ample opportunity for involvement. The center participates in several multicenter studies, trials and registries in transplant, heart failure and MCS. Participation in resident teaching is encouraged. Faculty appointments with local medical schools are available at a rank commensurate with experience and institutional guidelines. The Memorial Transplant Institute provides oversight, including quality improvement, and additional resources for our program.
This full time physician will report to an experienced medical director, Dr. Maryanne Chrisant, who has proven programmatic development success and tenure in the field of pediatric cardiology, and will work closely with the surgical team, led by Dr. Frank Scholl, surgical director and Chief of the Heart Institute.
This is a full-time employed position with the multispecialty Memorial Physician Group. The position offers competitive benefits and a compensation package that is commensurate with training and experience. Professional malpractice and medical liability are covered under sovereign immunity.
