Cornerstone Health Services, Inc is seeking a VP & Chief Compliance Officer. This executive-level position is responsible for all activities and outcomes of the organization’s Compliance Program, QAPI Program, Risk Management Program, Contract Management and Joint Commission Accreditation.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for fiscal oversight of department including development and management of departmental budget.
Ensures that the Compliance Program effectively prevents and/or detects violation of laws, regulations, organizational policies, and Code of Conduct.
Reports on a regular basis to Hospice’s governing body, CEO, Compliance Oversight Committee, and executive staff on compliance activities.
Regularly reviews the Compliance Program and recommends appropriate revisions and modifications, including advising executive staff and the Board of potential compliance risk areas.
Develops educational programs for all employees, agents, affiliated providers or others working with the organization.
Monitors the reporting mechanisms that enables employees and contractors to report any non-compliance without fear of retaliation and ensure that the reporting mechanism is adequately publicized.
Ensures that the internal controls are capable of preventing and detecting significant instances or patterns of illegal, unethical, or improper conduct by employees, agents, affiliated providers or others working with the organization.
Independently investigates and acts on matters related to risk & compliance, including designing and coordinating internal investigations and corrective actions.
Coordinates as appropriate with outside legal counsel, conducting or authorizing and overseeing investigations of matters that merit investigation.
Develops productive working relationships with all levels of management.
Works with Executive Staff to provide adequate information to staff to ensure that they have the requisite information and knowledge of regulatory issues and requirements to carry out their responsibilities in a lawful and ethical manner.
Performs other duties as assigned by the CEO & Board.
Develops a global view of agency’s quality and service excellence programs and fosters development of a common vision at all levels of the organization.
Develops a systematic, organization-wide process for improving organizational performance.
Identifies improvement opportunities, develops strategies and utilizes resources effectively to improve quality and promote service excellence.
Implements system for data collection, analysis, trending and reporting that is consistent with agency needs and regulatory requirements. Prepares timely reports.
Supervises the Risk Manager and oversees the management of risk related issues.
Chairs Quality Improvement Committee.
Champions quality and service excellence. Gains support and commitments from others, including those without direct reporting relationships.
Oversees all contract activities throughout their lifecycle.
Directs interactions between companies, legal counsel, employees, customers, vendors, and independent contractors. Serves as the main facilitators for negotiations, recommendations, record keeping, monitoring, change management, and more.
Ensure that the appropriate policies and procedures are in place to ensure contracts are compliant with the appropriate laws, regulations and internal policies.
Directly supervises the organization’s Risk Manager and risk management activities.
Acts as an advisor to the President/CEO and Board during risk management episodes that pose a major threat to the organization.
Acts as a liaison between the organization and legal counsel, ensuring takes the actions and maintains the documentation needed to limit the exposure to the organization.
Oversees activities ensuring that the organizations insurance policies are adequately to meet the needs of the organization.
Joint Commission Accreditation
Oversees all activities as they relate to Joint Commission Accreditations.
Ensures consistence adherence to Joint Commission standards and reporting requirements.
Leads all efforts for survey preparation, during survey, and post survey requirements.
> Bachelor’s degree in healthcare management or other healthcare field required; Masters strongly preferred. > Certification in Health Care Compliance (CHC) required. > Minimum five years of experience in the field of healthcare compliance, Risk Management and Quality. > Minimum of two years of Executive Leadership required. > Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. > Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve desired results. > Valid Florida driver’s license and required auto liability insurance.
