This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. The Wilmington VA Medical Center offers comprehensive services ranging from preventive screenings to long-term care; with state-of-the-art technology and education. The Wilmington VAMC proudly serves Veterans in five (5) Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) located throughout Delaware and Southern New Jersey. You can be part of that team, helping to make sure that our Veterans continue to receive the highest quality care possible. The Wilmington Medical Center is seeking a Physician (Gastroenterology). Physician should have expertise in Gastroenterology and be able to treat and manage patients who have illnesses related to General Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Physician should also be proficient and privileged in procedures related to Gastroenterology. Major duties and responsibilities include: Hepatology patients managed by GI. Responsible for completing patient encounters, Inpatient consults, notes, and correctly coding visits in accordance with coding guidelines. Clinical duties will include diagnosing, treating and managing patients referred for management of GI disorders including liver disease, Hepatitis C, and liver transplants based on standard and customary methods and techniques in the outpatient setting. Provide comprehensive care to include diagnosis, treatment, follow-up and education of patients with Gastroenterology conditions in the outpatient, inpatient and community living center settings. Perform surgical procedures, with required expertise in in all areas of Gastroenterology including: Proctoscopy and/or flexible sigmoidoscopy- Diagnostic upper gastrointestinal endoscopy Esophageal dilation- Colonoscopy, including biopsy and polypectomy Therapeutic upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy Administration of Moderate Sedation- Supervision/teaching of surgical residents. Providing consultation in an outpatient clinic setting and on inpatient wards. Conduct telemedicine visits for patients in outlying clinics. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, On call during the holidays and weekends. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
