SAVAHCS is the principal teaching affiliate with the University of Arizona Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy; medical students, residents, and fellows rotate at the facility. Therefore, the selected candidate must also be eligible for a faculty appointment with the University of Arizona. SAVAHCS is a tertiary care facility providing a full range of clinical services including cardiac surgery and neurosurgery. It has been a flagship quality provider within the VA and was a 2012 winner of the prestigious Robert W. Carey Performance Excellence Award. Duties include both direct patient care and teaching of trainees (medical students, residents, and fellows), with potential for research. Care is provided in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. There is no separate inpatient service for hematology-oncology; inpatients will be admitted to the hospitalist service. Duties include on-call and weekend obligations, shared with other division staff. Interest in clinical research is desirable. Clinical Contact: Raymond L.
