Anoka-Ramsey’s nursing program provides leadership and excellence in nursing education through an inclusive and student-centered environment. The purpose of these positions is to provide academic support, tutoring, and mentoring for our diverse cohorts of nursing students. One position will work with students in the N2800 (Chronic and Palliative Care including pharmacology and pathophysiology) courses and the other will work with students in the N2900 (Acute and Complex Care including pathophysiology and leadership) courses.
These positions will primarily work with students on the Coon Rapids campus but would be open to students from the Cambridge campus. This role provides feedback to faculty from interactions with students regarding assignments and questions. The tutor will observe the progress of students and prepare written and verbal observations to the student’s instructors. They must maintain confidentiality of student information and will assist faculty with classroom supervision if needed. A key role is in providing student support through tutoring sessions on an ongoing basis, assisting students with organizational and prioritization skills, and facilitate successful test taking strategies.
Post-secondary or industry certificate/diploma/degree or relevant unencumbered licensure in Registered Nursing, AND
One year of teaching/tutoring experience in Nursing at the high school level or above
Demonstrated commitment and success working in a diverse and multi-cultural and multi-racial community
Familiar with technology such as Electronic Medical Records, Word, Power Point, D2L, etc.
Experience working in and navigating an online environment.
Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of academic/developmental needs of non-traditional students, including non-native speakers of English, students with disabilities, first generation college students, and post-traditional generation students.
Interpersonal and communication skills, including listening, speaking, writing and the ability to interact professionally with diverse populations in a positive, courteous, and helpful manner.
Experience or knowledge of acute care nursing or long-term care.
Experience or a strong interest in modern learning techniques, including active and student-centered learning.
