Acts in coordination with Department Director to supervise employees and coordinate all aspects of surgery area to meet the needs of physicians and patients.
Establishes and maintains policies and procedures for the surgery area.
Oversees department operational/capital budgets.
Department Specific Duties:
Oversees scheduling of surgical cases as requested by physician and assesses daily and weekly surgery schedules for resource utilization.
Oversees collection of all surgical specimens, and their prompt and correct disposition to the laboratory facility indicated.
Inspects use and condition of equipment and supplies, and cleanliness of surgical suite.
Acts in cooperation with department director to establish and maintain policies and procedures for the surgery department, and assures adherence to same by surgery personnel.
Directs staff in appropriate care for patients with regard to their age, condition and status, to include patient education both pre- and post-operatively.
Assures that the surgical procedures are recorded in the Surgery Ledger on a daily basis.
Assists in preparation of statistical data as requested.
Demonstrates competence in the care of infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients relative to determining each patientâ��s age-relates and other physical, psychological and cultural needs and carrying patient care activities.
Current California Registered Nurse License
3 years experience as a Surgical Nurse
Current BLS Certification
ACLS required within 6 months of hire
PALS required within 6 months of hire
