Responsible for providing inpatient and outpatient Geriatric Medicine for the Geriatrics and Extended Care Service of the Robley Rex VA Medical Center located in Louisville, Kentucky. Duties include providing inpatient and outpatient Geriatric Medicine The incumbent must also be an acceptable candidate for a faculty appointment with University of Louisville or qualify for such an appointment. Supervisory Controls Reports to the Associate Chief of Staff, Geriatrics and Extended Care Service The incumbent may be asked to participate in resident / fellow supervision. Qualifications Required. Certified or Board Eligible in Geriatric Medicine required Preferred. Board certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine Customer Service Requirements: The incumbent meets the needs of customers while supporting the VA mission. The incumbent consistently communicates and treats customers (including, but not limited to Veterans, their representatives, trainees, individuals from affiliated academic institutions, visitors, and all VA staff) in a courteous, tactful and respectful manner. The incumbent handles conflicts and problems in dealing with customers constructively and appropriately. HEALTH AND SAFETY: Ensures the appropriate suitability and use of equipment and supplies. Maintains safe, orderly work areas. Ensures that reports of any accident to self, staff or patients are made available and completed according to departmental and institutional regulations. Demonstrates infection control practices for disease prevention (i.e. hand washing, universal precautions/isolation procedures, including TB requirement/precautions.
