This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Learn more. Physicians appointed to the Medical Staff of the John J. Pershing VAMC and assigned to the Cape Girardeau HCC will function as independent licensed practitioners. The candidate will (1) hold a full and unrestricted license in any state; (2) have completed a three-year residency in good standing, and (3) have passed or be eligible to take the certifying examination in a core specialty. Preference will also be given to those with experience or additional training. The Cardiologist is responsible for assuring the most effective delivery of cardiology care while meeting and exceeding compliance standards. The Cardiologist will provide expert consultation and treatment to patients in the outpatient Cardiology Clinic which will encompass noninvasive ambulatory cardiology consultation, clinical management, and diagnostic evaluation. In this role, the incumbent will also provide feedback and patient education to the patients and their families and will demonstrate excellence in all facets of patient care and meets or exceeds compliance standards. Privileges include being able to admit, work up, diagnose, and provide treatment to patients presenting with all Cardiologic conditions requiring specialized procedures and interventions within the scope of standard fellowship training in Cardiology Medicine. Additionally, the individual would perform and review outpatient cardiac procedures, EKG interpretations, and other related cardiac procedures. Incumbent will also be responsible to complete clinical reminders, achieve clinical performance measures, medication reconciliation, and be able to work within the computerized patient record system (CPRS).
