This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. The sleep specialist is a specialty care physician who is board certified or board eligible (must obtain Sleep Board certification within 2 years of hire date) in Sleep Medicine. The major duties including staffing sleep medicine clinics (face to face and virtual clinics). The sleep clinics will provide evaluation and follow-up for patients with a range of sleep medicine diseases including severe complex sleep apnea, obstructive and central sleep apnea, insomnia, non-REM arousal parasomnias, REM parasomnias, restless legs syndrome, narcolepsy with and without cataplexy, hypersomnias, circadian rhythm dysfunctions, and other sleep disturbances using evidence-based medicine and best practices. Additional duties include order/interpret sleep related laboratory studies, order/interpret In-Lab and Home Sleep Studies, perform sleep consult review, answering sleep medicine related patient phone calls and secure messages, Sleep E-consults, participate in Sleep quality improvement program, providing sleep physician support to the sleep tech staff, and providing rotating On Call coverage for the Sleep Laboratory studies, write reports and communicate with referring physicians. Administrative duties associated with this position will include monthly meetings with the Division of Sleep Medicine, quarterly Neurology faculty meetings, and other additional duties based on sleep center needs.
