This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Learn more. The VA Northern California Health Care System is currently recruiting for a board eligible/board certified Psychiatrist at the Mare Island VA Outpatient Clinic (near San Francisco, CA). This Psychiatrist will support our Primary Care-Mental Health Integration (PC-MHI) efforts and is co-located in the Primary Care Clinic. The co-located model with Primary Care increases access (ease and timeliness) to a variety of mental health care services in a relatively non-stigmatizing environment. The PC-MHI Psychiatrist provides support to primary care physicians in managing uncomplicated mental health issues. The Psychiatrist consults with Primary Care physicians to provide education and guidance on initial prescription decision making, medication changes, and management of routine side effects. The Psychiatrist also provides pharmacological and non-pharmacological services to patients with mental health needs that can be managed in the Primary Care setting, and interfaces with the outpatient Mental Health Clinic in the coordination of care for Veterans who cannot be managed in the Primary Care setting. http://visitvallejo.com/things-to-do/lets-go-there-soon Our Mare Island facility is located in Vallejo, CA and is home to the spirit that embodies the culture, the drive and the passion of the people from the Bay Area.
