Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Plans and delivers technically competent care to patients. Correctly performs procedures or seeks help when needed. Safely and effectively uses equipment required for patient care; Reports equipment in need of repair. Recognizes subtle abnormal signs and symptoms and/or changes in patients' condition and responds appropriately. Makes assignments and directs activities of other unit staff, (RNs, LPNs, students, PSAs, other team members). Formulates a plan of care based on nursing assessments based on the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice and seeks assistance as needed. Completes initial assessment of patient condition and response to treatment and initiates follow-up as needed. Includes the patient and family/significant other in developing the initial plan of care and establishing goals. Updates plan of care with assistance as needed. Assesses patient's learning needs, learning preference, and readiness to learn. Develops and implements a plan to meet learning needs, instructing patients and families in basic health teaching and discharge planning. Documents the nursing process. Revises plan of care according to evaluations of patient responses. Uses the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) and the Bar Coded Medication Administration (BCMA) software per policy. Organizes and completes own assignments in a safe and timely manner, assisting team members as necessary. Demonstrates grade-appropriate and consistent critical thinking skills. Assumes responsibility and accountability for individual nursing judgments and actions. Acts as a patient advocate. Work Schedule: Full-time or part-time positions available Day, Evening or Night tours available 12 hour shifts available Pay Schedule: The salary range listed in this announcement is a Base-Line Salary ($80,603.00-$137,090.00) range estimate for a full-time work schedule. Starting salary will be set based on locality (which may include a special pay rate depending upon location) and boarding. Financial Disclosure Report: Not Required Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases. Paid Time Off: Annual leave shall accrue for full-time Nurses at the rate of 8 hours for each full biweekly pay period. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years' vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA. Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement). Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory and you can practice anywhere in VHA.
