This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Learn more. DUTIES The incumbent, a radiologist, is board certified or board eligible in radiology. The radiologist is responsible for providing quality and cost effective imaging services within this Medical Center. Incumbent is a Staff Radiologist in the Imaging Service Interprets general radiology examinations (plain film, CT, CTA, US, NM, MRI, DEXA etc.) as provided and privileged. Performs ultrasound examinations of the internal organs, thyroid, scrotum, etc., and vascular exams such as carotids. Performs fluoroscopic examinations (contrast and non-contrast) with the assistance of a registered technologist. Assists providers in performance of specialized examinations when requested. Interprets CT and MRI examinations of the head, neck, body, spine, and extremities. Interprets nuclear medicine studies such as bone scan, HIDA, MUGA, thyroid, etc., and possibly cardiac as privileged. Performs interventional procedures under CT guidance, ultrasound guidance, or fluoroscopy guidance. Participates in and supports performance improvement activities, including, but not limited to, external review programs, internal peer review programs, and accreditation requirements. Uses Powerscribe and ensures timely and consistent imaging reporting and record keeping. Provides accurate, concise, timely documentation of care in the electronic medical record (Computerized Patient Record System -CPRS) on each patient care occurrence. Interpretation and dictation of reports must be completed using PowerScribe voice recognition system for dictation and in the required VAMC format. Verification of reports must be completed within 48 hours. Ensures communication for direct patient care is accomplished among imaging staff and providers. Is knowledgeable of changes associated with aging and principles of growth and development relevant to the adult and geriatric age groups. Has ability to assess and interpret data about the patient's status; and ability to identify age-specific needs and provide e appropriate care based upon the age related factors. Participates in Quality Management activities such as image quality, clerical checks, peer review, Tumor Board and other activities as required. May be asked from time to time to review imaging policy and procedures and recommend updates or changes to the Chief of Radiology for implementation and support the coordination of the services daily functioning as needed.
