Responsible for the strategic and daily operations of the Hospice Program. Manages interdisciplinary team and works collaboratively with hospice leadership and community partners. Coordinates hospice care for patients and families. The manager has responsibility for all daily operational activities including planning related to staffing, scheduling, budget, and oversight of regulatory compliance.
The manager ensures appropriate systems and processes for the efficient delivery of care ensuring safe, high quality care and an outstanding experience for patients and their families. This leadership role assumes 24 hours a day, seven days a week responsibility for all department functions. The manager is responsible for maintaining effective inter-professional communication and a positive work environment that supports and embraces the principles of shared governance. The manager is also responsible for ensuring staff are educated and competent to care for patients under their care. The manager routinely collaborates effectively with physicians, peers and other Legacy leadership to meet the strategic objectives of Legacy Health.
Education: An academic degree in nursing is required (BSN or MSN/MN); master's degree required, MSN/MN preferred. Internal candidates promoting from Assistant Nurse Manager may meet the master's degree requirement with verification of a master's degree in progress with an expected completion date within 2 years of the promotion date; progress will be reported periodically to the site CNO.
Experience: Minimum of three years' experience in a hospice leadership role required. Demonstrated growth in leadership responsibilities and breadth desired. Previous clinical experience specific to the appropriate area of specialty practice is highly desirable.
