EDUCATION: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. LICENSE: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. ENGLISH LANGUAGE: Proficiency in spoken and written English. Additional Requirement: Board Certified in Radiology Preferred Experience: He/she must be experienced and highly competent in clinical radiology, have a good understanding of how the various subspecialists function and the kinds of services they provide, as well as a talented and seasoned medical administrator, preferably with prior VA work experience. Greater than 1 year experience in a leadership role within a health care organization. Greater than 1 year experience in a supervisory/management role within a health care organization Familiarity with Joint Commission standards. Knowledge and skills to interpret radiography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, general and vascular ultrasonography, fluoroscopy, and nuclear medicine. ["The Chillicothe Ohio VA Medical Center is looking for a highly motivated physician to serve as Chief Radiologist and serve as a clinical and administrative leader within the Diagnostics Integrated Clinical Community (ICC). This position is a full- time permanent position at the Chillicothe VA Medical Center, Ohio. Duties Include, but are not limited to: The Chief is responsible for oversight of all imaging subspecialties, including Nuclear Medicine, and works closely with Pathology and Laboratory Medicine leadership. The incumbent functions in a clinical and administrative role and accordingly, must have extensive clinical knowledge as well as strong managerial and leadership skills. The incumbent reports directly to the Chief of Staff (COS) and is expected to maintain a direct patient care clinical practice in radiology. The Chief is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and management of the department to include compliance with VHA policies, external regulatory standards and in meeting applicable performance measures. The scope includes the supervision of a variety of health care professionals and allied staff including but not limited to physicians, technologists, technicians, nurses, and administrative staff. The incumbent serves as one of the principle clinical advisors to the Chief of Staff office for the overall scope of Diagnostic Services provided. The incumbent has the responsibility for planning, developing, and directing the general radiology, CAT scan, Ultrasound, MRI, Interventional radiology, and nuclear medicine operations of Imaging Service and works with Pathology and Laboratory Medicine leadership in the delivery of laboratory services to inpatient and outpatient clinics, Urgent Care, and Community Living Center settings throughout the medical center. The incumbent reports to the Chief of Staff office, but largely operates on a day-to-day basis in an independent manner, with full responsibility to keep the supervisor apprised of activities and any issues in need of close collaboration. The Chief will play an instrumental role in personnel management, recruitment, oversight of compliance with all applicable regulations, addressing patient complaints, credentialing and peer-review issues, and inquiries and investigations from Congress, the White House, VISN, VA Central Office, and national investigative bodies. The individual will participate as a member and/or leader of committees responsible for peer review, accreditation, and systems redesign and quality improvement projects, as assigned by the Office of the Chief of Staff. The incumbent will carry out administrative duties as assigned in a timely, resourceful, and efficient manner.
