VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System (VAAAHS) is seeking a full time physician in Primary Care Service. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 06/30/2022. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Physical requirements outlined below. PHYSICIAN STAFF REQUIREMENTS Staff Physician. None beyond the basic requirements. The individual must qualify to perform duties as a physician, have completed an accredited residency and/or possess experience which has qualified the individual to perform general duties and some specialized functions and procedures without supervision. Staff physicians may also include attendings who train physician residents assigned in facilities with residency training programs, and consultants who are capable of giving authoritative views and opinions on subjects in their field of medicine. Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office. Physical Requirements: Applicants must meet physical standards for the position. A physical examination prior to placement is required. Requires lifting 15-44 pounds; pushing (approximately 2 hours); reaching above shoulder; use of fingers and both hands; walking and standing from 3-5 hours and kneeling. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Must have depth perception and ability to distinguish basic colors and shades of colors. Hearing aid is permitted. Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP): Authorized This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program. To participate in the program, you must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy 1021 and submit your application within four months of appointment. The final award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services office. ["The physician will be responsible for the medical management of a panel of patients assigned to them. Duties would include patient history, physical examination, ordering laboratory and diagnostic tests, interpretation of tests, medical management of both acute and chronic illness. Administrative responsibilities would include both and not limited to the medical management of patients, and clinic needs. The physician will be capable of minor outpatient clinical procedures. Medical management will be in accordance with VA policy and VA formulary and State regulations. The physician will dedicate 20 percent of their time as lead provider for video on demand, telehealth and VA community care consults. An immediate goal would be scheduling 2 or 3 telehealth visits per day and championing the expansion within the Medical Center. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
