Summary
Guaranteed Hospice is seeking a well-connected and experienced Business Development professional to spreadhead growth across Los Angeles and its surround counties. As the first member of our Hospice Business Development team, this role will directly contribute to the sustainability and long-term growth of Guaranteed Hospices in the region.
As a Regional Business Development Executive, you will establish and maintain positive relationships with customers and referral sources within the community, in addition to working closely with our Head of Development and clinical teams to coordinate hospice admissions based on the criteria set out by Guaranteed.
Job Responsibilities:
Build strong relationships in assisted living facilities (ALFs), skilled nursing facility (SNF), hospitals and clinics, physician offices, personal care homes, and other community referral sources
Meet with community partners regarding hospice services for their patients and develop a strong reputation for Guaranteed to stand out against competition
Develop, plan, and implement marketing solutions and relationship building strategies with other health care providers and intuitions
Establish and maintain positive relationships with customers and the community
Review patient referrals, discuss hospice care options with patients and family members, and plan with both the patient and the facility to prepare for hospice care
Communicate medical information between the hospice department or facility and health care providers
Generate at least 30 referrals per quarters per a quarter resulting in 10 QHA (qualified hospice admission) per a month, source and nurture 15 QNBDs (qualified new business development) per a quarter, and monitor and help support the clinical team reduce avoidable revocations of the hospice benefit through relationships
Coordinating with social workers, chaplains, and nurses to provide emotional support to patients and their families
Coordinating with funeral homes and crematoriums to arrange funerals or memorial services for patients who die while enrolled in the program
Supporting patients’ families by providing emotional and spiritual support during the dying process
Arranging for services such as housekeeping, meals, transportation, and laundry services for patients who cannot perform these tasks themselves
Coordinating with social workers and clergy to help patients make arrangements for end-of-life care, including funeral arrangements and preparing a will
Skills and Toolset You'll Need to Bring:
Strong reputation in hospice or healthcare industry in Los Angeles
An enthusiasm for providing the best possible care to patients and their families
Mix of medical knowledge, interpersonal skills, and familiarity with marketing and sales practices
A compassionate and empathetic approach to care and communication
Strong relationship building skills and a competitive spirit
A valid driver’s license with an automobile in good working order that is properly registered and insured
Certified in grief counseling and a valid first aid certificate
Excellent time-management, organization, observation, verbal, and written communication skills
Nice to Haves:
Experience as a community liaison, that is interacting with the local community on behalf of Guaranteed and reporting back to the organization on how information is received and/or what is roadblocks exist to promote Guaranteed
Background in Patient Advocacy and the ability to help patients navigate the healthcare system and make sure that their voices are heard
Deep expertise in end-of-life care and support
Bilingual (especially, Spanish and Mandarin)
Relevant Experience:
3+ years of experience as hospice or clinical liaison, must understand hospice/palliative jargon
1 year of similar sales and marketing experience in the hospice industry is preferred
Background in needed in medical terminology or experience in a clinical setting; particularly in palliative, hospice, or home health preferred
Strong working knowledge of all medical regulations related to hospice care
Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field, such as nursing, social work or psychology
A degree in a non-health-related field, such as business or communications, and have experience in hospice care
