A circulating nurse is an important part of the surgical team in an operating room. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Prepare the operating roomCheck stock of supplies and instrumentsProblem-solve and identify any issues related to the surgery and/or patient safetyEquipment must be checked and double-checked. If something is missing or not in working order, the circulating nurse finds a solution.A patient advocate, the circulating nurse interacts with the patient before surgery and serves as a patient protector during surgery.Developing and implementing nursing care plans for surgical patients.The Nurse Circulator ensures safety of patient within the period of operation.
