The Employee Health Registered Nurse (RN) team is responsible for delivering and improving Occupational Health programs including Tuberculosis Screening, Bloodborne Pathogens, Respiratory Protection, Immunizations/Vaccinations tracking and programs, and pre-placement, deployment, volunteers, and annual surveillance exams, and other Employee Health programs. This position contributes to facility efforts by keeping employees healthy and productive, and by meeting regulatory and accreditation requirements, protecting the workforce and reducing liability and associated costs by minimizing risk for occupational illness or injury. The Employee Health Nurse provides employee and workplace health education with a focus on self-management, prevention of injuries, communicable disease, and safety. The Employee Health Nurse reviews and manages employee occupational health records to ensure compliance with occupational health requirements. Confidentiality is maintained by the Employee Health Nurse while working with Facility Leadership and Human Resources to enforce work restrictions and return-to-work protocols. The employee health nurse, collaborates with and assists others to validate and or improve Occupational Health and Wellness practices on the basis of application of current research-based knowledge. The Employee Health Nurse is responsible for managing and promoting immunization, vaccination and health screening requirements for health care personnel. This includes monitoring compliance with mandatory TB screening, COVID-19 vaccination and influenza vaccination. The Employee Health Nurse maintains the confidential employee health record, both paper and electronic, that is separated from the VA EMR system.
