The Internal Medicine Residency at Mercy Catholic Medical Center is recruiting a Program Director to guide its continued success. The ideal program applicant will be an experienced clinician-educator with a passion for mentorship and educational planning. They will join an experienced leadership team in guiding a 70 person residency that is based in two clinical campuses to continued success. Mercy Catholic Medical Center has a strong track record of producing clinically oriented graduates who pursue fellowship (40%), hospitalist (40%), and primary care (20%). Our residency is full accredited and recently implements X+Y scheduling. In addition to their role as a physician-leader. the successful applicant will be expected to be clinically active as a general internist, hospitalist, or a medical subspecialist.
The residency is based at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in suburban Philadelphia, The hospital is a mission-based safety-net community teaching hospital has a 80 year history of GME. We are close academic affiliates of both Drexel University College of Medicine and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Greater Philadelphia offers urban, suburban or rural living with access excellent school districts, a wealth of cultural, entertainment, and recreational options, and easy to travel to New York, Washington, and beyond.
ABOUT THE FACILITYMercy Fitzgerald Hospital located in Darby, PA is a 188-bed acute care community teaching hospital that has been serving a large number of economically fragile neighborhoods in Delaware County and Southwest Philadelphia for 85 years. In 2018, the hospital admitted 7,819 patients, cared for 40,473 people in the Emergency Department, and saw 149,884 outpatient registrations.
Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital is home to comprehensive heart and vascular care, cancer care, bariatrics, orthopedics and ambulatory services, advanced diagnostic and interventional radiology, gastroenterology services including a heartburn clinic, an endoscopy center, a sleep center, orthopedics, wound care, behavioral health services, acute inpatient rehabilitation, and physical and occupational therapy.
