The role you’ll contribute:
Our Mission is to extend the healing ministry of Christ. Employees are hired to help Adventist Health System extend the healing ministry of Christ. GENERAL SUMMARY:
This position is accountable for assisting the health professional by providing personal health care services and assistance with activities of daily living to the patient as specifically identified in a written assignment and necessary for the accomplishment of patient care plan goals.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Providing Home Health patients with assist in activities of daily living such as bathing and personal care.
· Providing Home Health patients with assist in instrumental activities of daily living such as preparing meals, shopping for groceries or personal items, performing light or heavy housework, doing laundry, and using a telephone.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
· Sympathetic attitude toward care of the sick
· Ability to read
· Ability to write
· Ability to carry out directions and deal effectively with the demands of the job
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· A minimum of ninety (90) hours of training including sixteen (16) hours of supervised practical training by a qualified RN covering the following areas:
a) Communication skills;
b) Observation, reporting and documentation of patient status and care or service rendered;
c) Reading and recording of TPR;
d) Basic infection control procedures;
e) Basic elements of body functioning and changes in body function that must be reported to the Registered Nurse or Supervisor;
f) Maintenance of clean, safe and healthy environment;
g) Emergencies and knowledge of emergency procedures;
h) Physical, emotional and developmental characteristics of the population served by the Department, including the need for respect for the patient, his privacy and his property;
i) Appropriate and safe techniques in personal hygiene and grooming, including:
1) Bed bath;
2) Sponge, tub or shower bath;
3) Shampoo, sink, tub or bed;
4) Nail and skin care
5) Oral hygiene; and
6) Toileting and elimination.
j) Safe transfer techniques and ambulation;
k) Normal range of motion and positioning;
l) Adequate nutrition and fluid intake; and
m) Other health-related topics or tasks pertinent to home health services.
· Currently certified to practice as a Home Health Aide.
· Successful completion of a Home Health Aide competency evaluation which addresses the following subject areas:
a. Observation, reporting and documentation of patient status and care or service rendered;
b. Reading and recording of TPR;
c. Basic infection control procedures;
d. Basic elements of body functioning and changes in body function that must be reported to the Registered Nurse or Supervisor;
e. Maintenance of clean and safe health environment;
f. Emergencies and knowledge of emergency procedures;
g. Physical, emotional and developmental characteristics of the population served by the Department, including the need for respect for the patient, his privacy and his property;

· Have had at least one (1) years employment experience as a Nurses Aide in an institutional setting.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
· Maintain CPR certification
