Learn more.The physician has responsibilities for the evaluation, care, and disposition of patients, ordering appropriate diagnostic tests, determining needs for hospitalization or transferring the patient to another facility. Major duties include, but are not limited to: Providing direct hands-on patient care; Assessing patients for acute illnesses and determine whether patients need to be admitted to the hospital or managed in the outpatient setting; Managing chronic diseases; Providing clinical guidance over the phone, by Secure Messaging and through mail; Ensuring accurate documentation of medical assessments and observations; Coordinating hand-off communication. Other activities assigned by the supervisor Primary duties will be to function and provide primary care services in the outpatient setting in the Pontiac Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) located in Pontiac, Michigan; Based on the clinical needs of primary care service, the provider could also work in the John D. Dingell VA Medical center located in Detroit, MI, Canton CBOC located in Canton, MI, and Veteran's Community Resource and Referral Center (VCRRC) located in Detroit, Michigan. This also includes working with students and residents to model excellence in patient care and contributes significantly to the education program of our students and residents.
