The Gastroenterologist physician is assigned to the Gastroenterology Section of Medicine Service, VA Central California Healthcare System (VACCHCS) or Southern Nevada Healthcare System (VASNHS).
The VA provides patient centered care, delivered by engaged, collaborative teams in an integrated environment that supports learning and continuous improvement. The Veteran's experience and health outcomes are improved with an emphasis on prevention through healing relationships in an optimal healing environment. The full-time Gastroenterologist physician must have outstanding clinical and interpersonal skills as a member of the VA professional health care team and providing continuous veteran-centered care for a variety of medical ailments.
The Gastroenterology (GI) physician is responsible for providing comprehensive medical and selected specialty services for outpatients, inpatients, and nursing home patients. The physician will provide patient care to veterans in the areas of Gastroenterology in the form of consultative care. The Gastroenterologist will diagnose, treat, and manage patients with gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary diseases according to standard, usual, and acceptable methods and techniques. Provide services such as inpatient and outpatient consultation services related to GI and liver diseases. The physician is responsible for overseeing the administration of conscious sedation during GI procedures. The Physician performs GI procedures including but not limited to EGD, complex stricture dilation, EGD with PEG, colonoscopies/polypectomy, push enteroscopy, GI manometry, Bravo study and other advance procedures.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
