SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Working closely with the CEO and Senior Leadership team, the diversity, equity and inclusion officer (DEI) will ensure that diversity agendas are successfully implemented and in line with business objectives. Understanding external trends, will develop strategic initiatives to increase diversity in patient access and diversity in the workforce. The DEI Officer is responsible for recognizing, creating and implementing plans to promote diversity within the organization and reduce inequities in all aspects of the organizational functions including patient access, staff recruitment, employment and satisfaction. A significant part of the role is promoting and developing training programs to enhance employee understanding on inclusions issues. The DEI Officer acts as a regulator for diversity issues and tasked with ensuring the organization follows appropriate legislation and employment law regulations around bias and inclusion. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES - Researching and advising on diversity, equity and inclusion issues and creating programs, training and values around diversity, equity and inclusion
- Addressing disparities in care and outcomes within the patient experience
- Improving the patient experience including quality, safety, and effective communication.
- Coaching senior leadership around diversity, equity and inclusion issues
- Provide cultural competency training for organizational members
- Developing diversity metrics and processes to assess diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts
- Diversity and inclusion strategy development
- Diversity communication to internal and external constituents
- Enforcing EEO & compliance efforts
- Infusing diversity into the training and clinical experience of onboarding team members
- Integrate diversity and inclusion efforts with patient care, quality, and safety
- Cultivate recruitment and outreach to diverse communities
- Cultivate strategic partnerships with community organizations, government, and others
- Guide Supplier diversity and development efforts, creating and maintaining relationships with diversity related businesses
- Organizing the disability services and corresponding affected areas including Language service initiatives
- Support and guide the recruitment team to help create a brand that appeals to diverse applicants and removes bias
- Identify external trends and recognizing best practice which will increase diversity among the workforce
- Review the organizations workplace, policies and procedures, ensuring that these are all inclusive
- Design company policies that reinforce diversity in the workplace, address all kinds of harassment and protect minority groups and women
- Train hiring managers and HR staff on how to select, manage, evaluate and retain diverse employees
- Review communication on our website, social media pages, job descriptions and internal documents to ensure we use non-discriminatory language
- Cultivate a supportive and inclusive work environment for all employees
- Implement inclusion programs
- Review selection criteria and hiring procedures to verify they’re objective and strictly job-related
- Recommend benefits packages that cater to all employees
- Measure and forecast diversity metrics
- Act as a consultant to underrepresented groups and make sure all voices are heard
- Represent BCN at various community events
- Ensure compliance with state or country regulations on diversity and equity
